A late 18th century Giltwood mirror. With a rectangular bevelled mirror plate (later), in a pierced rockwork and foliate carved frame with scrolled cresting, the apron pierced with a stylised shell. Frame with some losses and cracks but perfectly stable.
Provenance:
The Davies-Cooke Collection from Gwysaney Hall, North Wales. The Hall was owned by the same family for over 450 years, and is one of the country’s most significant properties as being a “substantial and well-preserved Jacobean house with important 19th and 20th century additions”. The existing hall dates back to around 1600.
