A c.1920’s Mahal rug. Like those of Lilihan and Mushkabad, these rugs are seen as part of the Hamadan group. Distinguished from the main group by the large knot and noticeably softer pile. Typical geometric design with central diamond. This one with a rich indigo ground, and in overall good condition considering it’s age. Professionally washed.
