A well painted early 19th century oil on panel. Depicting a seated gentleman - possibly Naval - holding a telescope by an open window with ships in the horizon. I particularly like the deep red of the chair he is sat on, which offers a strong colour variation to the rest of the painting. We have reframed in a simple but complimentary aged gilt frame.
