A masterpiece! This is an extremely rare English needlework carpet, dating to around 1880. Incredible workmanship, embroidered not woven like traditional rugs. The wonderful detail is created by stitching the coloured wool yarn through a linen ground, requiring significant skill and experience the more complicated the design. This unique piece of art has a vibrant colour palette and of rare scale and very good condition. The previous owner purchased this item from C John Ltd (BADA/LAPADA) in 2006 for around £7,000 - so grab a bargain. I personally verified this with the retailer himself, who confirms this is a true masterpiece and of significant value.
