A rare and important Italian walnut chest of drawers, dating to the late part of the 17th century. A rectangular top above four long drawers flanked by carved caryatid pilasters and raised on bracket feet. Each side with raised panels, and the drawers retaining what appears to be the original - and very large - iron locks. No longer in working order but remain a fabulous feature. Original panelled back. Drawers slide smoothly. There are marks, knocks and scuffs as to be expected with over 350 years of use, but remains in good, solid order. Historic worm which has been treated as a precaution, minor old restorations.
