A superb large Maimana kilim from north west Afghanistan. These wonderful Kilims are traditionally made with wool in a flat weave, i.e a rug without pile. The weft coloured threads are woven in blocks which creates the pattern. One of the many benefits of this type of Kilim is that because of the way it is constructed it is the same on both sides, meaning that it can be used either way up. Some fading in places but minimal wear makes this room size kilim a fabulous addition to the home.
