A 1920’s gouache on paper, laid on board with timber support structure verso. Possibly featuring Shimazu Clan Daimyo - a powerful feudal lord and land controller responsible for governing their own domain and providing military support to the Shogun - and attendant. Character mark to the bottom right hand above a symbol, possibly the Mon of the Shimazu clan of Satsuma domain. Generally good condition with some small areas of damage as shown.
