Georgian Oak Housekeepers Cupboard

Georgian Oak Housekeepers Cupboard

£900.00

Attractive c.1820 oak cupboard in two sections. The top with fixed cornice and two panelled doors opening to two fixed shelves, along with the surface of the base as additional storage. With original hanging hooks. The working lock and key to one door, with ‘secret swivel lock’ or the other. The base with three short faux drawers, above three opening drawers all with brass pulls. Raised in bracket feet and original, well made back. Interestingly, to the interior is a label which indistinctly reads: “multiplication of several denunciations……of which cost 2 years of surplus cloth at £1..12s…6d and £3..5s…0 in trust, 1820”. Could this be the cost to make the cupboard, with a barter for the price? Solid condition, wear commensurate with age.
