A good quality early 19th century traditionally Ebonised (not painted) mahogany linen press cupboard. The upper part with a moulded dentil cornice, having three interior sliding trays and brass hanging rail, enclosed by a pair of bevelled panel doors with working lock/key. The lower section containing two short over two long drawers with brass swan neck handles, raised on bracket feet. Stamped ‘Pratt & Son. Guildford’. Robert Pratt (1823-1889) was an antique dealer who traded at Hight Street, Guildford from the 1850’s to the 1880’s, this piece passing through his hands during that period. A few knocks and marks with some loss to the Ebonised finish, a small section of moulding missing from the back left hand side (shown), and one small section of cockbeading to one drawer (shown), otherwise in good overall condition.
